Wavion Increases Its 5 GHz Market Footprint

Last month we have introduced our new 5 GHz sector base station – the WBS-5000. This base station joins the omni and sector 5.8 GHz FCC base stations solutions, thus enriching Wavion's 5 GHz portfolio to non FCC-regulated countries. Operating in the whole band of 4.9-5.9 GHz and having rich feature set, the WBS-5000 is an excellent choice for operators, municipalities, government agencies and enterprises who need a wireless broadband solution for applications such as broadband access, backhauling and video surveillance.

We would like to take this opportunity and encourage you to try our new WBS-5000 solution. We have put together several articles that highlight its value proposition in different scenarios.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback,

Upgrade Your 5 GHz Network with Wavio’s New Beamforming Equipment

Better performance, greater speeds, unmatched interference mitigation and best ROI.
Our WBS-5000 sector base station provides unamatched performance and interference mitigation. Based on Wavion’s unique and powerful beamforming technology and tunable to any of the many 10/20 MHz channels (5 MHz steps) over the entire 4.9-5.9 GHz band, it provides a high quality and robust solution for congested and highly interfered environments. The WBS-5000 base station is interoperable with any standard 802.11a Wi-Fi CPE. WBS-5000 can be deployed as a stand-alone sector or co-located with up to three WBS-5000 together to achieve 360 degrees coverage and maximum capacity. This is the time to take advantage of our introductory promotion to this new product.

Wavion's Cost Effective 5 GHz Backhaul Solution

When considering backhaul solutions, one should bear in mind that using Point-to-Point links may not always be the most cost effective solution. Indeed, using multi Point-to-Point (PtP) links have drawbacks such as: 1. Only few (~3) PtP links can be typically installed on a single pole. 2. Installation of multiple PtP links on a single pole may create cross interference between the links, depending on the frequency separation. 3. Installations of multiple PtP links on multiple poles on the same roof would increase the CAPEX and OPEX.

Wavion’s WBS-5000 offers an alternative solution based on a Point-to-Multipoint architecture, with the WBS-5000 located at the POP (Point-Of-Presence) and 5 GHz high-end CPEs located at the end points.

This solution is simple to install and operate and provides robust beamforming–based backhaul links.
