A Partnership for Government, Business and the People – Cambria Connected

The Cambria County located in the state of Pennsylvania, USA has initiated a novel project called Cambria Connected - “a partnership for government, business and the people”. The project is a multi-service communication network that will provide voice, video and high-speed data communications to all participating public safety agencies, as well businesses, education and all levels of government.

The Cambria project was deployed with 1/3 the number of base station in comparison to the competition.

One Laptop per Child (OLPC) Project in Uruguay

Technological Laboratories of Uruguay (LATU) is the organization leading the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) program in Uruguay. LATU has undertaken the immense task of giving 450,000 lap tops to every elementary school student in Uruguay and providing internet coverage to all 2,100 schools and surrounding communities.

With Wavion’s solution, LATU requires about one third fewer units than other competing access points (APs) to cover the same area.

Increasing Internet Penetration in Dhaka, Bangladesh

IT Connect Ltd. is a privately funded Internet Service Provider (ISP) operating in Bangladesh. As developing nation, Bangladesh has an internet penetration level less than 1% of the population. IT Connect’s goal is to dramatically increase internet penetration by offering connectivity at a minimum investment to the customer.

The WBS-2400 base stations demonstrated superior performance in terms of coverage and indoor penetration. This eliminated the need for outdoor CPEs and reduced the number of deployed base stations in comparison to the competition by a factor of 3. In addition, the low cost Wavion USB CPE is given to customer free of charge in order to drive market penetration in low income areas.

Capturing Tourists with Local Internet Portal in Nocaima, Colombia

The municipality of Nocaima is the oldest settlement in Colombia and a prime tourist location. Founded on June 8 in 1605, it sits in the hills of the Andes, about 60 km outside Bogota, the Capital of Colombia.

The WBS-2400 base stations in provide coverage to over 90% of the population at total cost of the solution was less than 50% in comparison to the competition. This is the basis of a communication platform that support free Wi-Fi Internet access, video surveillance, internet access to schools and an intranet for the offices and departments of the municipality. The platform also captures any tourist logging into the free internet service and automatically routes them to the Nocaima captive portal, which provides extensive information regarding the area and its tourist attractions.
